Cross Pointe Caring for the Community

Nazarenes are known for their willingness to help others and Cross Pointe is no exception. Some of you have expressed an interest in participating in an outreach program to provide meals to others within the community. Our church body is a community in and of itself and within our community there are people who would benefit from this form of outreach. Kathy Guest and Wendy Coons have generously offered to lead a program to provide meals to people within our community and need your help.

Maybe you know someone who is recovering from an illness or unable to prepare meals for themselves and could really use a nice meal delivered by someone with a kind smile. God has graced each of us with many spiritual gifts. Maybe you're will-ing to donate meals, supplies, money and/or your time for this praiseworthy outreach. Don't miss out on this opportunity to spread love within our community and show how much we care.

As an extension of the Community Starts from Within initiative, we would like to encourage each of you to donate non-perishable food for Lamb’s Basket Food Pantry, a local food pantry. Only non-perishable food items are acceptable, such as canned goods, boxed foods, cereal, peanut butter and jelly. Your non-perishable food items can be brought on Sun-day mornings and placed in the drop-off bins located in the church lobby. We know you’ll want to participate in this important outreach.

Please contact Kathy Guest at guest.kathy@gmail.com / 804-275- 7968 (home) / 804-402-1074 (mobile) or Wendy Coons at wendycoons1@allstate.com / 804- 873-1575 for more information about how you can help.

Cross Pointe Caring for the Community would like to partner with the Central Virginia Food Bank/Feed More program. We would like to ask that you bring an item of your choice from the list below and place in the big bin near the front doors. This list is taken from their web site as the most needed items at this time. Of course, they will take any non-perishable food item. We plan to deliver the items at least once a month and more often if necessary.

MOST NEED ITEMS:

1. Peanut Butter

2. Canned Tuna and Chicken

3. Canned Green Beans and Corn

4. Canned Peaches

5. Hamburger Helper

6. Mac ‘N Cheese

7. Hot and Cold Cereal
